LORMA HOSPITAL-EXECUTIVE SUITE B

I spent my 2006 holy week doing apostolic deed. While others were enjoying their selves in beaches, province etc…me, vlads, javs and merlie were watching and taking care of our lola…Nanang. Also known as Lucinda Gaoat Villamor…she is now 86 years old. Good thing she was transferred from the ICU to normal room. As the title states, we stayed in the 3rd floor Executive suites. Now where do I start…

04/12/06:Wednesday: 2030pm: Partas Terminal, Pasay
**Me and Javs arrived at around 930 pm…the queue was looooong…and the window wasn’t issuing any tickets until 1030pm and 1230mn…they want to insure that there will be buses to ride all the passengers…the intel in me rushed to window and do what an intel employee would do…”magreklamo…hahaha!”Boss, bakit ho hindi pa tayo nagbibigay ng ticket…ahh…so may darating pa ho na bus?...kasi kung wala na po lagyan na ho natin ng sign or lubid para wala nang sumunod sa linya…baka ho hindi lang din sila makasakay…ah ganun ba…marami pa bus…sige ho..salamat sir!”…I went back to the line with javs and spent the night away with Gameboy, Calvin and Hobbes, Alternative Music, and Narnias Book1…those were the things that made us survive 5 grueling hours for the bus to arrive…yep…we got in the bus around 230am, javs and I got the balcony seats…(you know the seats at the end of the bus???...the six seats side by side…yah…that was our seat!)…nice…that experience is what we call…one for the books…Ü

04/13/06:Thursday: 0930am: Lorma Hospital
**Alas! We arrived safely. We were able to catch up with Manong Jing before he goes back to Dan-ar. Nanang was awake…and of course…auntie merlie… I immediately kissed nanang in the forehead and said goodmorning…I knew she was smiling…even though its hard for her to show that. A couple of minutes passed…the bed was calling me…successful…I woke up at 1230noon…yehesssss…just in time for lunch…the hospital served fried calamares, grilled samaral plus soup and vegetable…(this hospital serve delicious food…I tell you!!! Ü)..it was javs turn to sleep…nakakita ng puwang!!! …we take turns in sleeping…since there is only one single bed and two chairs…we do shifting…also to watch nanang. So there I was wide awake with nanang and auntie merlie…we have to closely watch nanang because she keeps on removing her NGT. This tube is connected to directly to her stomach/intestines, since she cannot eat thru her mouth, this is where her food is supplied. Sometimes,,,if its not her NGT…its her catheter …anything that is in her body…(diapers, hospital robe, blanket…name it…nanang kept us busy with all her episodes). We are also expecting kuya to arrive anytime soon…he arrived late night…around…2330pm….funny thing…he arrived thru Candon Bus line…Ordinary Fare sirrrrr…hahaha…he had a hard time getting bus directly to La-union so he opted to take a bus going to Sison, Tarlac and have connecting bus going to LA-union…heheh…tough luck…that was the first bus he saw…CBL…hahaha…that will be forever included sa mga kwentuhan during family reunion…shempre..including the mormon lagpas bahay incident that me and kuya had…hahaha! Ü
**While we were all talking, and having good laughs at our shared stories, from time to time, we see nanang moving her lips…showing some little smiles…it was a nice sign…she is aware of her surroundings and is reacting to her environment…one of the greatest reaction she had was when me and javs were discussing what to get for dinner…she murmured something and the we asked her to say it again…hahaha..you know what she said?...”KAKAIN NA NAMAN KAYO!!!”…hahaha…pinaglitan pa kami…hahaha! Ü…nanang talaga!
**Actually, I volunteered to do the night shift…but I didn’t last that long…the bed called me around 1am…it was kuya and auntie merlie that stayed with nanang during the wee hours…heheh…di ko kaya!!!...hahaha!

O4/14/2006: 0600am: Lorma Hospital
**Wake up call courtesy of Auntie Merlie…”Hoyyyy…tama na…hindi kayo nagpunta rito para magbakasyon!!!”…in other words…what she meant was…”Hpy…gising na…kayo naman ang magbantay..inaantok na kami!” hahaha…buti nalang…breakfast came…yummmmyyyy… this hospital amazes me with their menu…sarap e… Ü…we all shared breakfast and had a short chit chat on what transpired last night…as usual…nanang was wide awake the whole night…I think humahanap talaga siya ng tyempo para tanggalin yung mga tubo niya…actually, ok lang to watch her all night…just as long she wont have her episodes of kakulitan…pero I think it’s a phase she is going thru kaya pinagt-tyagaan nalang namin. Kuya was talking to nanang during his shift…he was saying…Nang…ayaw ko na dito…pagaling ka na…labas na tayo dito…Auntie Merlie would give nanang sermons whenever she attempts to remove her tubes…Ilocano e…kaya hindi ko na masulat…gist…”wag kang makulit…para saiyo rin naman yang tubo na yan!”
**I was on for the morning shift… Ü, this is where the good things happen…hehehe…its bathing time…Auntie Merlie voloutered me to help the nurse…and she had that grin when she said I do it…AHA!!!!!...she want me to replece nanangs diaper…ukinanum ni aunte! Hahaha…pagdaanan ko raw yun para mapatunayan ko na nag alaga ako kay nanang…Kunyamut!!!! All of a sudden I remember watching Greys Anatomy…Ü…Seriously? Ü
**We were attended by different nurses…and rated them all (pinaka maasikaso…courteous…at pinaka barubal!...ahaha)…pero ang the best…itago nalang natin siya sa pangalang…Mr. nurse XXX…(you know what happens when all of you gets bored…you tend to pick on other people…hahahah…magkakasama pa man din kami ni kuya…tsk tsk tsk!)…Enter mr. nurse XXX to get nanangs BP…I whispered to kuya…Kuya..palagay mo?!...he gave me that smile…and said…malamang…i just finished my bath, so I was putting on some lotion…then auntie merlie said…nag iba ang amoy ng room ah…javie exclaimed…smells familiar…and guess what mr. nurse XXX said…Victorias Secret ho ma’am… and then it happened…our (me and kuya) eyes met…and had that laugh…tanong si aunte kung bakit…Ah wala…na dead ako dito sa laro sa gameboy…hahahaha…after mr. nurse XXX went out…we blurted out the big laugh and told javs and auntie merlie the story…hahahahah…simple ways to keep pur minds sane…sorry mr. nurse XXX…we turned our boredom on you…hahaha! Ü
**Dinner came…(it became a habbit talaga an abangan ang meals…hahaha…Ü)…and to our delight…ang sarap na naman ng ulam…Ü…it was tilapia with soup…plus this unique dish…it was eggplant, topped with tomato sauce plus cheese…and instantly it was the talk of the room…Ü…we were thinking of doing our own version of the dish…and we will call it…EggMoza(pronounced as…Egg-Mot-sah!)…Ü. What we plan to do is bake the eggplant instead of what the they did(blanched) and opt to use whole/crushed seedless tomato (canned) plus some onions and a dash of basil…and to top it…Mot-sah-re-lahhhhh…yum…cant wait to try this dish!Ü!...Mga Villamor talaga…mahilig sa pagkain…live with it!...hahah..Ü
**It was around 11pm…supposedly me and javs should already be sleeping. We are done with our shift…but not…Auntie and kuya was in deep sleep…(tulo laway ni kuya!...wawang hello kitty na unan!)..so we were forced to extend watching nanang…and indeed..it was another challenging night…hindi naming maintindihan ang gusto ni nanang…piniplit na naman niya tanggalin yung catheter niya…yung NGT…ang kulit…pinipilit niya tumayo…hindi pa naman nia kaya…hindi naming maintindihan yung gusto niya… to think that she was given given dosage of stilnox and iterax…to help her go to sleep…(so we can also sleep)…pero she was hyper as ever…naka drugs si nanang!!! Literally!...hahaha…around 2am…my eyes were already falling…tinatawag na ako ng puwang…Ü

O4/15/2006: 0900am: Lorma Hospital
**Another wake up call from Aunte Merlie…agggggggggghhhhhhhhh…naman!!! Breakfast was already in the room…yey…lafang na na namanÜ…after eating breakfast arrived Manong Jing together with Tatang, Tita Gie and Balong Tom-tom…ahhh..kids…they have this something that takes away all the stress in your body…Ü. We were all anticipating the maalala mo kaya moment…and it was…when tatang entered the room…he immediately cried…so as nanang…we parked tatangs wheel chair beside nanangs bed…and obviously…it was maalala mo kaya moment…live…we were all quiet and we let them had their moment. Prior Tatangs entrance in the room, we picked up tatang at the GF of Lorma…I bet he didn’t recognize us agad…it took couple of reminder and talking…when he remembered…he cried…and then it crossed our mind…ayun…naaalala na tayo…tatang asked for daddy…we gave safe answers to avoid further questions…heh…
**I told myself…if given chance…I wouldn’t want to reach that old age…ayoko na mahirapan pa…yung matagal sa ospital…getting too sicky…pero I bet with my mode of lifestyle…I just might not get thru 70’s.
**I also told myself…will I also have the same better half…I mean…you know…someone who will hold my hand…aggghhh…cut cut cut!
**Javs and I headed for the Bayan to buy some stuff that they need, toiletries, plastic condiments, etc. We took the opportunity to have a smoke…hayyyy… teka…No smoking pala dito sa La-Union…ayos!



**around 1500pm, we were already packing our stuffs…me and kuya are heading back to manila...as we were packing our things…javs was playing gameboy and auntie merlie was focused on the tv…but they weren’t able to resist it…”Pucha…aalis na talaga kayo?!?!...pano na yung shifting tag team natin?!?!”….”Marami nga puwang…wala naman gagamit ng puwang….”…”Shet ayan na…nag sisink in na…iiwan niyo na kami…”...and those were the words we heard…deep inside…I know ill miss them too…so as the things we did in the hospital…hayyyy…
**kuya ang I boarded Partas around 1530…and arrived in cubao…around 23:05, we got a bus going to alabang(ordinary fare ulit sirrrrr…there no sense sa pag iinarte…gabi na e!)…and 2336pm, we were in alabang…bilis sirrr!. Mom and dad picked us up at Jollibee junction in alabang. And alas were home… Ü



In short…I wasn’t able to do all my usual Lenten routines…but yet, this is one of the Lenten escapades that I will remember…I hope that nanang recovers soon. And I pray that we all be in good health…Ü
